I just had to use dwf* to view a vendor file. A comparison follows:

dwf

1. Viewer free, minimal information provided to ADesk. eDrw is free,
but requires more information to obtain.
2. Installation quick and painless, no reboot required.
3. Very clean appearance, but doesn't look finished. eDrw has all those
tool tips cluttering the screen till they are turned off.
4. Very minimal tools. About like SWViewer. eDrawings does much better
on free tools.
5. Clicking on the markup tool causes the viewer to attempt to go and
find Composer which costs money. A 30 day trial is available but you
have to give lots of information to get it. eDrw lets the sender
determine whether you can measure. eDrw is more secure in that regard.
6. Balloons cannot have multiple leaders but are fairly easy to
control.
7. No animations of views.
8. Composer doesn't allow repositioning dimensions. They are dumb. And
they can become cluttered.
9. I couldn't find a markup file facility in Composer or Viewer. eDrw
allows sending a small markup file instead of the whole drawing.

In other words, one of the biggest lacks and most aggravating things
about DWFViewer is that measure is not available without paying money.
I think eDrawings is much better at this in that the sender determines
whether the recipient can measure and anyone can markup with any
version of eDrawings.

For a dumb print that anybody can access pdf is still king. Don't know
if Kinkos can print dwf, but they sure can print pdf.

IIRC, the ability to determine measure costs about $900 (pro version).

Which is a little cheaper than eDrawings Pro. The big difference is
that ADesk expects the recipient, not the sender to fork over the
cabbage.
